I have to agree with Michael at Rain City Story on this. Facebook just feels like a hassle. The many ‘invites’ to various useless ‘applications’ get annoying, and frankly all that ‘poking’ just disturbs me.
My reason for wanting to use Facebook is to keep up with my friends and family in places like Bermuda, Canada and Australia (because nobody outside of the UK seems to use Bebo) - but each time I login there is so much crap to wade through, I lose the will to live before I even look at what’s new on my friend’s profiles. Consequently I never use Facebook unless I get an email alert saying that someone has sent me an actual message - not a (I would rather kill myself that watch some of that crap!) ‘Fun-wall’ post or a (WTF?) ‘Vampire’ invitation.
Bebo on the other hand - which doesn’t bombard me with ‘karma requests’, ‘snow-ball fights’, and (dear god help me) ‘zombie invitations’ - I login to every few days and can easily enjoy looking through my friend’s and family’s profiles. I even use it to keep tabs on my sister who lives just two miles away!
I guess the Cliffs Notes version of this post is ‘Facebook Sucks!’
